About City Bibles

Founded in 2007 by the Loukas Foundation, the City Bible Project has become a proven and impactful model for evangelism. Its mission is to empower believers in local churches to become effective witnesses for Jesus Christ, whether in villages, small towns, or large cities. The City Bible Project thrives thanks to the dedication of men and women who invest their time and resources in printing, producing, and distributing City Bibles worldwide.

The project’s success hinges on the active involvement of local church members. They are the hands and feet that distribute the City Bible, helping to spread the message of the Gospel in their communities. This model is built on the principles of “identification” and “communication,” ensuring that the Bible is accessible and impactful.

City Bible editions are produced and distributed in 100 countries and 80 languages, with nearly 5 million copies already reaching individuals across the globe. Through strategic training and support, believers are equipped for personal evangelism and effective follow-up with contacts and new converts.

City Bibles South Africa and Beyond

Building on the global success of the City Bible Project, we are excited to launch City Bibles in South Africa. Our mission is to spread God’s Word across the nation by providing Bibles and New Testaments in the most widely spoken South African languages, including English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, Tsonga, Tswana, Shona, Sepedi, French, and Chichewa. These Bibles are distributed from our warehouse in Centurion at very low prices, ensuring affordability and accessibility for all South Africans.

Our vision extends beyond South Africa, as we aim to reach neighboring countries with the Gospel. For these regions, we offer an even wider selection of languages. If your language is not listed, you can request it via our contact form, and we will do our best to provide it for your ministry or evangelism efforts.

The Hybrid Approach to Evangelism

In addition to printed Bibles, City Bibles South Africa incorporates a hybrid approach to evangelism by integrating digital resources. Every Bible and New Testament features a QR code, allowing individuals to access digital versions of the Bible in multiple languages. This ensures that people can engage with the Word of God both offline and online, expanding its reach and impact.

While physical distribution remains central to our mission in South Africa and neighboring regions, the inclusion of QR codes enhances accessibility for the growing number of smartphone users. This approach enables individuals to:

  • Read the Bible digitally in their preferred language.
  • Share the Gospel with others using digital tools.
  • Request additional resources or physical copies of the Bible.

Our Vision for Southern Africa

We aim to bridge the Bible gap by combining traditional and digital methods of evangelism. By focusing on affordability, accessibility, and regional collaboration, City Bibles South Africa is dedicated to equipping local believers and reaching Southern Africa with the Gospel. Together with our partners, we strive to make God’s Word available to all, from South Africa to the nations beyond.
